Udhampur : Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), Dr Arvind Karwani, on Saturday reviewed polling arrangements being put in place for Kashmiri Migrants in the Special Polling Station set up in Udhampur.
Assistant Returning Officer Migrants, Udhampur, Tanveer Ahmad besides other concerned accompanied the Commissioner.
Pertinent to mention that the three Parliamentary Constituencies of Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri, are going to polls on 13th, 20th and 25th May, respectively. Special Polling Stations have been set up for the Migrants in Jammu , Udhampur and Delhi. Besides, they have the option to cast their vote through postal ballot for which Form 12-C is to be filled beforehand.
In furtherance to the Election Commission of India’s notification dated 11th April , 2024, special polling stations at Jammu and Udhampur have been mapped with the concerned Zones and the requirement of filling M-Form has been done away with .
Further, a migrant residing in Delhi NCR can opt to vote in special polling station, for which (he) has to fill Form-M or opt for postal ballot. The process of filling of M-Form has also been simplified.
Earlier last week, Dr Karwani, accompanied by the concerned AROs, inspected the polling stations set up at 04 different locations in Delhi and 21 locations in Jammu, and took stock of facilities available for the voters.
Dr Karwani also interacted with the migrants and listened to their grievances. He assured time bound disposal of all their genuine demands. He appealed to all the voters especially first time voters to come out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right to vote.
