Bagalkot: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a veiled attack on prominent Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at a rally here on Monday, accusing the party of running an ‘extortion racket’. Addressing an election rally, indirectly referring to Mr. Gandhi’s recent vacation activities, he said that those who continue to take vacations cannot contribute to India’s development, underlining his commitment to transform India by 2047. While doing so, he emphasized the importance of dedication and foresight in carrying forward development initiatives.
Addressing a rally ahead of the May 7 polls in the state’s remaining 14 constituencies for the Lok Sabha polls, Mr. Modi said, “Those (including Rahul Gandhi) who are enjoying leisure and vacations are the people of India. Can’t develop. A vision is needed to work for the country. A vision requires dedication in the individual. When nothing happens, the result is zero. Whereas in Modi’s case both the vision and the motto are clear. Modi is working round the clock for 2047.
The Prime Minister accused the Congress of running an ‘extortion racket’ instead of governing in Karnataka and said that during his rule, Karnataka has transformed from a famous technology hub to a tanker hub.
He said that ‘Congress is not running the government in Karnataka but is running a ‘recovery gang’. Karnataka, which is known as a technology hub and has made a name for itself in the world, has been made a ‘tanker hub’ by the Congress. Under the leadership of the Congress, there has been a clear decline in the state’s prestige and governance.
Turning his attention to the governance of Karnataka, Mr Modi criticized the Congress for treating the state as an ‘ATM’ for its political interests. He accused the Congress of looting the state treasury and not providing funds to the elected representatives for development work.
He said, ‘Congress party has made Karnataka its ‘ATM’. In such a short time these people have emptied the public treasury of Karnataka. The situation has become so serious that MLAs are not getting funds for development works.
