9 accused held for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in B’la, 11 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested nine suspects for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals case in Baramulla and also seized 11 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the Police initiated action under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPO Pattan/Tangmarg/Kreeri assisted by SHO Police Station Kreeri, Police Station Kunzer, I/c Police Post Delina, Police Post Kungamdara and Police Post Mirgund and seized 11 vehicles besides arresting nine drivers . Police in its statement further said that the said drivers detained by police have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Chopan S/o Ali Mohammad R/o Kunzer, Samir Ahmad Shah S/o Ghulam Rasool, Javid Shah S/o Nazir Shah both residents of Gonipora, Asif Ali Bhat S/o Ali Mohammad R/o Odina, Mohd Rafeeq Akhoon S/o Gh Rasool Akhoon R/o Frasthaar, Ghulam Hassan Gojree S/o Abdul Aziz R/o Chandsooma, Ghulam Nabi Lone S/o Ghulam Hassan R/o Harwan Sopore, Talib Hameed Wani S/o Ab Hameed & Arshad Ahmad Akhoon S/o Ab Razzaq both residents of Frasthar Kreeri , adding therein that all the said accused were involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Stating that cases were registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations, Police
in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/River, as it is the violation of Government rules. Police on this occasion also warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
