Rainfall likely over Western Himalayan Region till March 14: IMD

New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Western Himalayan Region from March 11 to 14 and isolated to scattered rainfall over adjoining plains from March 12 to 14.

According to IMD, “Two western disturbances are likely to affect northwest India from March 10, under its influence, isolated moderate rainfall and snowfall likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on March 10.”
“Scattered to fairly widespread moderate rainfall and snowfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning likely over the region during March 11-14,” the IMD said.
The Met Department further predicted isolated light rainfall and snowfall likely over Uttarakhand during March 11-14.
“Isolated to scattered rainfall very likely over Punjab during March 12-14; over Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh on March 13 and 14,” the IMD said.
Strong surface winds raining between 25-35 kmph are very likely to prevail over the plains of Northwest India except south Rajasthan on March 8 and 9.
Isolated rainfall very likely over Odisha during March 8 to 10 and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on March 8 and 9, it said.
The weather department also predicted moderate rainfall and snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh on March 8 and isolated light rainfall during the subsequent 6 days.
Isolated light rainfall is very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on March 13 and 14.
Hot and humid weather very likely to prevail over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Kerala during next 3 days, the IMD said.
