Kathua : To mark National Science Day, students from Govt. Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar embarked on an educational journey to the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) housed in Bharatiya Vidya Mandir High School, Hiranagar.
The visit, organized by the college, aimed to inspire creativity, problem-solving skills, and a spirit of innovation among the students.
ATLs are innovation spaces established by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), a government initiative in India. These labs provide students with access to cutting-edge tools and equipment, including 3D printers, robotics kits, electronic components, and prototyping materials, fostering hands-on learning experiences.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed and introduced to the concept and purpose of the Atal Tinkering Lab. The facilitator provided an overview of the AIM initiative, emphasizing the role of ATLs in promoting innovation and the resources available within the lab.
Throughout the visit, the students had the opportunity to engage in hands-on demonstrations and interactive sessions with various tools and equipment. These activities not only showcased the practical applications of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts but also served as a source of inspiration for the students.
The Principal of Govt. Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar Dr. Pragya Khanna, commended the school management for their efforts and congratulated the Principal, staff, and students of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir High School who were sent to ISRO under the Atal Scheme.
Accompanying Dr. Pragya Khanna were Dr. Poonam Kamotra, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, and Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma. Dr. Khanna encouraged the students to engage in guided mini-projects or workshops facilitated by ATL mentors, which could involve problem-solving challenges, basic coding exercises, or small-scale innovation projects.
The visit to the Atal Tinkering Lab not only exposed the college students to cutting-edge technologies and innovation but also inspired them to think critically and creatively, paving the way for their educational and career paths.
