DC G’bal reviews modalities for delimitation of Municipal Wards

Ganderbal : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir on Wednesday chaired a meeting at V.C Room, here focusing on the potential delimitation of municipal areas of Municipal Council Ganderbal.
At the outset, a comprehensive discussion about various challenges, including the survey of the population of the town, proposals for new areas to be included in municipal council Ganderbal and invitation of suggestions and objections for inclusion in the municipality and other criteria that might influence the creation of new wards and the inclusion of new areas under municipal limits were held.
The EO Municipal Council Ganderbal informed that at present, Ganderbal municipal council comprises 17 wards, and criteria for inclusion of new areas were clarified as per SO 97 dated 14-02-2024.
The DC directed the constitution of third-party verification to authenticate the actual population in the town by conducting door to door verification of the population census in the Municipal Council Ganderbal. Proposals for new areas to be included in the town and inviting suggestions for the creation/ inclusion of new areas shall be proposed so that the same could be taken at an appropriate level for approval.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, EO Municipal Council Ganderbal, Tehsildar Ganderbal and other ward officials concerned.
