Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has booked most wanted drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the most wanted drug smuggler Umar Farooq Najar S/o Farooq Ahmad R/o Kalayban Sheeri, Baramulla has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, stating therein that the booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged at Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Police in its statement further said that many cases were registered against the said drug smuggler for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Kalayban, Sheeri, Fatehgarh and other areas of the district, adding therein that despite his involvement in many FIRs he did not mend hid activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have appreciated its role for its action against drug peddlers, reiterating therein that efforts are on to keep society free from drug abuse.
