Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Nihama at a checkpoint established at Nihama near Bridge, intercepted a suspect identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat S/o Bashir Ahmad Bhat R/o Chogalpora Manzgam and during search recovered 340 grams of Cannabis Powder & 30 grams of Charas from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement also said that in a similar action at Anantnag, a Police party of Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established at Tulkhan Crossing Sangam, arrested a drug peddler identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Ramzan Dar R/o Hassanpora Taveela and recovered 12 Bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the possession of the said accused who was shifted to Police Station Bijbehara where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement reiterated it’s commitment to take stringent actions against such elements.
