Shopian : To ensure effective service delivery to the public by different departments, and evolving a vibrant mechanism for on spot redress of public grievances, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone on Wednesday presided over a mega Block Diwas programme at block Imam Sahib, here.
On the occasion, locals of Hendew, Wadipora, Kadigam, Aadakharan, Wasohalan, DK Pora and Losedenow apprised the ADDC of their issues which include road connectivity, cleanliness of irrigation Khuls, portable drinking water facility, uninterrupted power supply, repairs of lanes, drains and dumping site for wastage, etc.
The ADDC patiently listened to all the issues and demands put forth by the locals and directed the concerned officers to redress the genuine grievances in a time bound manner.
Earlier, the ADDC sought feedback from the line departments to check their performance vis a vis developmental scenarios to benefit the general masses.
While interacting with the people and other representatives, ADDC said that the block diwas is being organised with the sole objective to provide more transparent, accountable, public-friendly and responsive administration to the people. This initiative of the Government is contributing immensely to good governance, he said.
Dr Nasir said that the purpose of organising such programmes is to reach out to the unreached habitations, listen to their genuine issues and resolve them on the spot at their doorsteps. He further added that no stone shall be left unturned in meeting the expectations of the public and fulfilling their genuine issues within a time bound manner. He stated that the officers should be accessible to the public so that they can fully avail the benefits of schemes.
Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Tehsildar Barbugh, Block Development Officer Imamsahib and officers and officials were present on the occasion.
