Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at Furrah near Railway bridge intercepted a suspect identified as Ansar Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Nabi Mir R/o Peath Bugh Dialgam, Anantnag, who on seeing the Police party tried to flee from the spot, but was apprehended tactfully by the alert Police party and during search recovered 5 grams of Heroin like contraband from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 41/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides which further investigation was also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
