Ganderbal : In a proactive move to address the concerns of the local population at their door steps, the District Administration Ganderbal Wednesday organized a mega Block Diwas at Zazna.
The event, presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shyambir and Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, aimed at fostering direct communication with the citizens and ensuring swift redressal of their grievances.
The event witnessed active participation from civil society members and prominent citizens of block Wakura, who voiced various issues, including the need for inner road maintenance, de-silting of Dub canal, repair of defunct bore wells, upgradation of Middle School Zazna, improved medical facilities, additional playgrounds, installation of solar lights and others.
DDC, responding to the concerns raised, instructed officers to expedite the resolution of genuine issues. On the matter of repairing the Dub canal, he directed the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to prioritize urgent repair spots and initiate work promptly, including de-silting.
Regarding defunct borewells, the DDC informed that the list has been forwarded to the Ground Water Division, and repair work will commence based on their final assessment. He also assured that the installation of solar lights is in progress and will soon cover Block Wakura among others.
During the Block Diwas, DDC emphasized the prioritization of demands raised in the previous year’s Block Diwas and Back to Village programs in the formulation of the 2024-2025 development plan.
Moreover, officials from the J&K Bank and the District Horticulture Development Office apprised participants of various beneficiary-oriented schemes, such as the Area Expansion Scheme, Revised Modified High-Density Plantation Scheme, and Kisan Credit Card. Citizens were encouraged to take advantage of these initiatives designed to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the local population.
Among others, the event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr. Bashir Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Wakura, District Sports Officer, and other district and sectoral officers.
