Drug peddler arrested in Sopore, Psychotropic substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police in Sopore on Saturday on Saturday apprehended a drug peddler and also recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during patrolling at Baghat Butpora Sopore, a police team led by SHO of Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir, intercepted a suspect identified as Aijaz Ahmad Najar S/o Ghulam Din Najar R/o Mumkak Butpora Sopore carrying a polythene bag and later during search, 13 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (each containing 100 ml) were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 29/2024 was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore besides which further investigation into the case was also initiate, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to remain vigilant and report instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities to the nearest police establishment or by dial 112 and reiterated it’s commitment to take stringent action against criminals as per law.
