Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Palhallan at a checkpoint established at Tapper near Srinagar-Baramulla highway intercepted two suspects identified as Mohammad Aqib Ganie S/o Ghulam Mohammad Ganie R/o Takiya Tapper and Jahangir Ahmad Ganie S/o Ghulam Ahmad Ganie R/o Rengi who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully and during search, 3 Kgs of Cannabis Powder was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station besides which further investigation into the case was initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
