Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has foiled a black-marketing attempt by seizing 800 Kgs of rice meant for government ration depots in Budgam and also arrested the accused persons involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Arath Crossing, intercepted a vehicle (load carrier) bearing Chassis Number BBXWRC66797 with three persons on board identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone S/o Ab Rashid Lone, Ab Qayoom Bhat S/o Sonaullah Bhat, both residents of Singhpora Pattan and Ab Majid Wani S/o Ghulam Rasool Wani R/o Arath Budgam and during search recovered 16 sacks containing 50 Kg of rice each from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that during preliminary questioning, it came to fore that the accused had bought the rice from a fair Shop at Arath run by one Gh Nabi Wani S/o Ghulam Rasool Wani R/o Arath Budgam, Police in it’s statement said that all the four accused have been arrested and the vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in it’s statement also said that the cases under FIR No. 41/2024 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Budgam besides which further investigation into the case has been also initiated.
