Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has booked two most wanted drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the most wanted drug smugglers Shahid Manzoor Dar S/o Manzoor Ahmad Dar R/o Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla and Shabir Ahmad Wani @ Hubba S/o Jalal-ud-Din R/o Singhpora have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
Police in its statement further said that many cases were registered against these drug smugglers for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Pattan and other areas of District as police in it’s statement also said that despite their involvement in many FIR’s, the said accused did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have appreciated its role for their action against drug peddlers. Police in it’s statement also resolved to make all efforts to keep society free from drug abuse.
