Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Member Parliament from Anantnag Justice(Retd) Hasnain Masoodi on Saturday highlighted the dire state of healthcare facilities and shortage of manpower in Kashmir hospitals during question hour in Lok Sabha.
According to a statement issued from party headquarters here, Justice (Retd) Masoodi while expressing concern over the lack of manpower to operate the critical diagnostic equipment across Kashmir division, particularly South Kashmir areas, Masoodi said, “The objective of National Health Care Policy is to provide quality health care to people but the lack of manpower to run the critical care equipment is impacting the large segment of population from availing the benefits under the policy.”
He also highlighted the absence of various diagnostics equipment like PET scan and MRI scan machine across South Kashmir districts. “The absence of such critical care and diagnostics equipment is hindering the fulfilment of the objectives of NHCP,” he added.
Emphasising on the emergence of Srinagar as the country’s lung cancer capital, Masoodi called for strengthening diagnostics, critical care facilities and other early detection equipment in Srinagar.
He underscored the need of upgradation and augmentation of present health infrastructure Srinagar to meet the demands of ever increasing number of patients.
He also raised the issue of 40% shortage of manpower in terms of medics, para medics across the govt run hospitals in Kashmir, demanding early filling of the vacant posts.
