Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Wussan headed by Incharge Police Post Wussan at a checkpoint established at Sultanpora, intercepted a suspect Shabir Ahmad Malla S/o Mohammad Dilawar Malla R/o Sultanpora and during search recovered 105 grams of contraband Charas like substances from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Pattan where he remains in custody, adding therein that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan besides which investigations have also been initiated.
Stating that Baramulla Police have registered 24 cases under NDPS act, arrested 39 drug peddlers including 3 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS PSA in Baramulla district during the month of January-2024 besides which contraband substances worth lacs (value of contraband in black market) have also been recovered, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any input about drug peddling activity in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
