Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 22 persons and also seized 24 vehicles for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Kulgam district last year.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kulgam it has constituted multiple teams under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal, who during multiple raids, patrolling and Naka checkings arrested 22 persons and seized 24 vehicles (15 Tractors, 7 Dumpers, 1 Tipper and 1 JCB machine), involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from river Veshaw and other Nallahs of district.
Stating that the police has later accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Devsar, Police Station Qaimoh, Police Station Qazigund, Police Station Kulgam, Police Station Kund, Police Station Behibagh, Police Station Manzgam, Police Station DH Pora and further investigation has also been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt strictly under law.
