Overall Security Situation Under Control In J&K, Will Maintain It With People’s Cooperation: DGP Swain

Says “J&K Police committed to public concerns, issues”

Srinagar: Director General J&K Police R R Swain On Tuesday said that overall security situation is under control in Jammu & Kashmir despite infiltration attempts to disturb peace reiterating there in that peace will be maintained and stabilises with active cooperation of the people of Jammu & Kashmir . He also said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is very serious in its commitment to address wide range of concerns and issues of people related to police services.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a public grievance redressal event at district Police Lines Awantipora the first of it’s kind in South Kashmir the Director General Police said that grievances redressal programme marked the second such event held outside the stationed headquarters of the twin capital cities Jammu and Srinagar and as such demonstrates the commitment of J&K Police to address public concerns and bolster a stronger bond with the people at the grass roots. “This programme also evoked huge response”, said Director General Police. He said that continuous infiltration attempts are being made by militants to create some sort of disturbance here and few elements within the region are aiding these militants, however, the vast majority of the population remains against these actions, which he said is very heartening and encouraging. He further said that the overall security situation in the region is under control, with business activities, education, and other development projects going on normally. This improvement in the security scenario is evident through this increased level of normalcy, and the Jammu & Kashmir Police with the support of people are determined to maintain this progress.
Addressing the participants at the public grievance redressal program the DGP welcomed all those present at the program and expressed his happiness in meeting the people once again, with the motive of understanding their issues and grievances pertaining to police services including complaints, investigations, and other aspects of police services.
The DGP assured a timely response and redressal to each grievance raised and further emphasizing that the programme is solely meant for addressing public concerns related to police services. It is not for recruitment purposes or general transfers, he added.
DGP said that the programme was attended by more than 500 individuals, including men, women, and the elderly, who came forth to share their grievances and concerns. The DGP listened attentively to people. On-the-spot directions were issued in several cases, ensuring prompt redressal of the concerns raised by the attendees. Before the grievances redressal programme the DGP J&K laid floral wreath at the Martyrs Memorial.
IGP Kashmir, V.K Birdi, DIG, South Kashmir Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat, AIG (Training and Policy) PHQ, Manoj Kumar Pandith, SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar and other jurisdictional officers were present on the occasion.
