Baramulla: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Baramulla intercepted a suspect at a checkpoint established at Kralhar area and during search recovered 1.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance from the possession of the said accused identified as Syed Asif Hussain son of Syed Sabir Hussain resident of Kamalkote Uri, adding therein that the said accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla besides which investigations have been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to report
drug peddling activity or any other crime in their area and contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People in it’s statement also urged people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
