Kulgam : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two gamblers in Kulgam district and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in the jurisdiction of Police Post Mirbazar, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar raided the suspected gambling site at Palpora and apprehended two gamblers on the spot who were later identified as Shahid Ahmad Mir S/O Manzoor Ahmad Mir and Ashiq Hussain Sofi S/O Ghulam Hassan Sofi, both residents of Zadoora. Officers and stake money of Rs. 4500/- and a set of playing cards were recoveredfrom their possession.
Stating that both the accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 17/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered atPolice station Qazigund besides which investigation was also taken up. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed them to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
