Kulgam: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Mirbazar Chowk intercepted a suspect identified as Aamir Shafi Magray S/O Mohd Shafi Magray R/O Lalan Anantnag carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 4.3 Kgs of Grinded Cannabis concealed in a nylon bag from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 15/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund besides which investigation has been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to report drug peddling or any other crime at the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People also urged people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
