Case registered against Jammu resident for bribing a Police Officer: J&K ACB

Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (J&K ACB) on Saturday said that it has arrested a resident of Kachi Chwani Jammu for bribing a police officer.
In a statement issued here on Saturday the J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau said that it arrested one person namely Chander Shekhar Vohra alias Sanjay Vohra S/o Late Madan Mohan Vohra R/o 221, City Palace, Kachi Chawni, Jammu in case FIR No. 01/2024 under section 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 registered at Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu. Stating that the instant case was registered on the receipt of a complaint from the complainant i.e. Superintendent of Police City South, Jammu wherein the it was alleged that on 13th January Friday , while performing her duties in her office at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu the said accused sent in a slip seeking appointment, J&ACB in it’s statement further said that on entering the office chamber of Superintendent of Police City, South Jammu, the accused presented a gift box along with yellow colour envelope containing cash to bribe the complainant to seek undue favour i.e. extension of time for Exhibition cum sale at Gole Market, Jammu beyond originally permitted period.
Disclosing that immediately after the registration of case the investigation was entrusted to Investigating Officer of Police Station ACB Jammu, the J&K ACB in it’s statement further said that during the course of investigation, the Investigating Officer recovered and seized a gift pack of sweets and envelope containing cash amounting to ₹30,000 through separate seizure memos and also arrested the accused Chander Shekhar Vohra alias Sanjay Vohra. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement the J&K ACB said that further investigation of the case is in progress.
