Jammu : In the aftermath of the tragic militant incident at Dera Ki Gali (DKG) near Bufliaz in Surankot tehsil of the Poonch district, Brigadier Anil Gupta, Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a plea to opposition leaders to refrain from politicizing the situation.
The nation mourns the loss of four brave soldiers from the 48 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and three civilians in custody, and the incident has heightened tensions in the region, which has experienced an increase in militant activities over the past year. Brigadier Gupta condemns custodial killings and urges political leaders, including the Muftis and Abdullahs, to await the findings of the inquiry. The Army authorities have committed to a thorough investigation, and cooperation from all sides is essential for a fair and unbiased report.
Highlighting the complex situation in the region, Brigadier Gupta points out the historical support provided by former CMs and Home Ministers under Article 370, emphasizing the need to dismantle the lingering ecosystem that fuels radicalization and militancy. He cautions against using militant incidents as political tools and urges leaders to collaborate in extinguishing the flames rather than adding fuel to the fire. Brigadier Gupta emphasizes the deep-rooted nature of the challenge, acknowledging that its resolution will take time.
In his statement, Brigadier Gupta criticizes the so-called “Gupkar Gang” for their stance on talks with Pakistan, pointing out their failure to condemn militancy originating from the country. He expresses disappointment that instead of cooperating with the government and security agencies in the investigation, some leaders are engaging in political opportunism, creating disturbances and disharmony. The BJP calls for unity in the face of adversity and urges all political parties to prioritize national interest over political gains, fostering an environment of peace and stability.
