Srinagar : Student Leader and National Convenor of Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, Nasir Khuehami, expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for approving developmental projects worth 3 crores for the revival of Bandipora Stadium.
In a statement, Khuehami said that the stadium was in a deteriorating condition, emphasizing the risk posed to the health and well-being of local youth due to its continued deterioration. Khuehami, who met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha two months ago and informed him about the conditions and issues of Bandipora Stadium, revealed that the lieutenant governor personally intervened. He directed relevant authorities to allocate necessary resources for the much-needed upgrade and revamp of the stadium. He added that a substantial amount exceeding 3 crores has been released, addressing all demands raised during the meeting.
The approved projects include the construction of a state-of-the-art Indoor Sports Hall at SK Stadium and a new Pavilion at the existing Sher-e-Kashmir Sports Stadium, with a budget of Rs 3 crores. The Indoor Sports Hall is poised to become a hub for various indoor sports, providing year-round facilities for athletes to hone their skills regardless of weather conditions. Khuehami expressed satisfaction that LG sahab had considered some of their requests put forth two months ago at a meeting held at Rajbhavan Srinagar. He underlined that the new Pavilion will not only enhance the stadium’s aesthetics but also provide improved facilities for players, officials, and spectators. Lieutenant Governor emphasized that these developments aim to bolster the local sporting scene and create a modern, inclusive space for athletes and spectators alike. Expressing gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Khuehami stated that the Indoor Stadium and new Pavilion are significant milestones that will promote sports and recreational activities in Bandipora. These facilities are expected to cater to the aspirations of local athletes and serve as platforms for hosting regional and national-level events.
He thanked LG Manoj Sinha for his swift and effective intervention, showcasing a commitment to the transformative power of sports in fostering unity, discipline, and overall well-being.
