Budgam: Saying that Jammu and Kashmir was passing through the most critical phase of its history, Chairman Peoples Democratic Front and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Thursday said socio political uncertainty has gripped every sector of the life as never before .
In a statement issued here Hakeem while talking to various deputations from Khansahib and Budgam areas ,who called on him on Thursday said that undue delay in holding Assembly elections has caused severe uncertainty almost in every sector of life adding that unknown fear and insecurity was looming large on the psyche of common man. He said the overall situation in Jammu and Kashmir has become unpredictable. “Prolonged delay in holding Assembly elections was totally unconstitutional which was depriving the people of their right to franchise assured by the Constitution. He said people were craving for electing their representatives since past 9 years, which was a gross violation of the constitutional provisions. “It was constitutional obligation to conduct fair elections after every 6 years in Jammu and Kashmir but assembly elections were being delayed continuously since last 9 years on one pretext to other , Hakeem Yaseen maintained .
PDF Chairman said the present proxy government in Jammu and Kashmir can never be a substitute to an elected government and it was the main reason J&K was witnessing worst ever political and administrative uncertainty and inertia. “Instead of holding assembly elections, imported government has been imposed on the people of Jammu and Kashmir and its imported bureaucrats were ruling the roast at their sweet will, Hakeem added. He said people belonging to different sectors of life including traders, labour class and employees were confronted with worst ever economic crisis . He said deliberate game plan was played to avoid assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir on one pretext or the other, for obvious reasons. He said the people who boast India being biggest democracy in the world , do not allow it to come in Jammu and Kashmir.
The deputationists brought various day to day problems in the notice of Hakeem Yaseen to seek their redressal. The mainly complained about acute power crisis ,shortage of ration and other essential commodities ,shortage of medical staff in health centers in their respective areas. Hakeem Yaseen assured them that their grievances will be brought into the notice of higher authorities.
