Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a person involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Kulgam district and also seized three vehicles from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party led by SHO Police Station Qazigund during patrolling along the banks of river Sandran found some vehicles engaged in illegal mining and on noticing police party, two persons (tipper drivers) managed to flee from the spot and left their vehicles behind, adding therein that the driver of JCB identified as Asif Ahmad Shah S/o Bashir Ahmad Shah R/o Sangran was arrested and all three vehicles including (2 Tippers and 1 JCB) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals were also seized on spot.
Stating that police has registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and also initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules and warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
