Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam; Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Behibagh at a checkpoint established at Alamgunj Daderkoot crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mohd Sanaullah Malik S/o Ghulam Mohd Malik R/o Hanger, Kulgam and during search seized 8 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance concealed in a nylon bag , adding therein that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has registered a case vide FIR No. 74/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Behibagh and also initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured people that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
