Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Kulgam while on patrolling at Tazipora Mohmadpora intercepted a suspicious person identified as Dawood Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Amin Bhat R/o Tazipora Mohmadpora, Kulgam and during his search recovered 7.4 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in a nylon bag from his possession following which he arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 199/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam besides which further investigation into the case has been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
