Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal district and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Lar received inputs about a person namely Yasir Ahmad Hajam S/o Ghulam Mohammad Hajam R/o Yangoora having kept contraband substances at his home with the intention to sell it to the local youth of the area raided the specific house and during search recovered Charas Powder, Dry and Wet Bhung Patri from the said house.
Stating that the recovered contraband substances were seized in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class after which the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement said that a case vide FIR No. 76/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Lar besides which further action in the case has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
