Drug peddler held in Kulgam, contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Mirbazar headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Alstop Chowk intercepted a vehicle (Alto Car) bearing Registration No. JK13H-0311 driven by Safeer Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Rasool Dar R/o Turka Tachloo, Anantnag and during search, 5.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in a nylon bag was recovered, adding therein that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has been seized.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 258/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
