Baramulla: In order to take a first-hand appraisal of Department wise progress, District Capex, Aspirational District Programme, Area Development Fund and other sectors, the Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Beigh on Tuesday chaired a general meeting of all DDC Members and Officers at Dak Bungalow, here.
Among members of DDC, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf; ACD, Officers of R&B, Health, Education, PDD besides District and Sectoral officers of all the departments.
At the outset, the Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the physical and financial progress achieved in developmental works being executed under different sectors in the district during the year 2023-24. He also briefed the chair about the physical progress of the Area Development plan and apprised about the completed works so far.
The officers of R&B, RDD, Education, PDD, Health and Jal Shakti gave sector wise briefings of different works and presented in-depth details of the progress of developmental projects.
During the meeting, it was informed that a total of 399 new works have been completed under Area Development Fund including PRI/ BDC/ DDC Grants and the work for ongoing works stands at 50.
Similarly, it was also given out that 442 works have been completed under District Capex and 2004 new projects have been tendered in various sectors including R&B, Health, PHE and others.
With regard to the tendering status (Department wise) under ADF for PRI Grants, the meeting was further apprised that 338 new projects have been completed against 1420 works allotted for execution.
After threadbare discussion and sector wise review, Safina Beigh exhorted upon all the concerned officers to gear up the process for completion of targets and utilization of 100% funds to avoid lapse. The Chairperson stressed upon the officers to maintain transparency and accountability in the execution of works.
Safeena Beigh further stressed on close monitoring of ongoing works to ensure quality and adherence to timelines.
With regard to the impediments in the ongoing projects, the Chairperson DDC Baramulla asked the members of DDC to keep a vigil on the working nature of the contractors adding that the contractors taking unnecessary delay in the execution of works will be blacklisted.
Furthermore, the Chairperson DDC emphasized for mobilising all the available resources productively and effectively for achieving the desired results. She also assured full cooperation on her part and added that socio-economic development should be sole priority.
Meanwhile, the BDOs were asked to share the data of the works completed, tendered out and under execution with the respective PRIs to ensure transparency and an enabling environment for development in their respective constituencies/ blocks.
