Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three persons for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla and also seized three vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO Police Station Tangmarg seized three vehicles (Tippers) and arrested three accused (Drivers) identified as Mohd Shafi Ganie S/o Gh Rasool Ganie R/o Reram, Ab Rashid Sheikh S/o Ab Gani Sheikh R/o Hoom and Hilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Asadullah Bhat R/o Atipora Kunzar at Shrai Tangmarg for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding therein that the said accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law has been registerd at Police Station Tangmarg besides which investigation has been also initiated into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and later appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
