Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Babareshi headed by Incharge Police Post Babareshi under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Babareshi Crossing intercepted one Mohd Azhar Khan S/o Tariq Ahmad R/o Qazipora Tangmarg Baramulla and arrested him after he was shifted to Police Station Tangmarg where he remains in custody, adding therein that during search 28 grams of charas Powder like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Police in it’s statement also said that in another similar action in Kulgam also, a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at Buchroo intercepted a suspicious person identified as Sabzar Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Ahsan Bhat R/o Tarigam, Kulgam and arrested him following which he was shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that the said accused tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and during checking 9 bottles of Codeine Phosphate like substance were recovered from his possession.
Stating that the police have accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigation has also been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
