Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla a police party of Police Post Palhallan headed by Incharge Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Ghat Palhallan intercepted one Ab Ahad Dar S/o Khazir Mohammad R/o Ghat Palhallan Baramulla and during his search recovered 1.5kgs of charas powder like contraband substance from his possession, adding therein that the accused has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement also said that in a similar action in Kulgam also, a team of Kulgam police led by SHO Police Station Behibagh under the supervision of DySP PC Hatipora Aarif Hussain recovered contraband substance and arrested a drug peddler identified as Feroz Ahmad Khan S/o Ghulam Ahmad Khan R/o Munnad .
Stating that during cordon and search operation at Munnad the contraband substance including 106 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance concealed in three nylon bags, digital weighing machine and a grinder with 3 Jars has been recovered during the search operation, Police in it’s statement further said that said accused has been shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, adding therein that police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
