Srinagar : Police on Thursday arrested a bootlegger in Sopore and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Tarzoo at a checkpoint established at Amargrah crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie S/o Ghulam Nabi Ganie R/o Banpora Langate while carrying two bags as he was signalled to stop for checking but on noticing police party he tried to flee from the spot after which was apprehended tactfully and During search. Police in it’s statement also said that 39 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of the above named accused and was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 116/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Tarzoo and initiated further investigations into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighbourhood and warned that people indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
