4 drug peddlers arrested in Bla & Sopore, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers including woman drug peddler in Baramulla and Sopore and also recovered contraband/ psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Sharai Tangmarg intercepted two persons identified as Bashir Ahmad Magray S/o Sonaullah Magray R/o Drooru and Javid Ahmad Ganie S/o Ab Ahad R/o Shrai and during search recovered 65 grams of Charas like contraband substance from their possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action, a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Baramulla arrested a wanted lady drug peddler identified as Afroza Begum @ Afree W/o Late Fayaz Ahmad Dar R/o Ganie Hamam Baramulla A/P Hygam Sopore at Dewanbagh near Grid Station and during the search recovered 60 grams of contraband Brown Sugar like substance from her possession.
Stating that that in Sopore also, a police party of Police Post Watergam at a checkpoint established at Ziyarat Shareef Berhampura intercepted a suspicious person identified as Muhammad Nadeem Mir @Shiaya S/o Muhammad Mubarak Mir R/o Behrampura Rafiabad who after noticing police party tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully and during search, 12 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that all the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law have also been registered at respective police stations besides which investigation has also been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured them to act tough against the criminals as per law.
