Srinagar: Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Saturday expressed serious concern over what he called “increasing unemployment”in Jammu and Kashmir and demanded a special central employment package .
In a statement issued on Saturday ,Hakeem while terming unemployment problem in Jammu and Kashmir very much worrying said that unemployment among youth have made them soft prey to dreadful drug menace . He said unless unemployed youth are not engaged in various government and semi government departments and stipend is also not paid to them , the menace of drug addiction was difficult to be controlled fully. He said ,in absence of severe power crisis, there were obsolete chances for growth of industries in Jammu and Kashmir, adding therein that government should introduce Oversees Employment Board to work out livelihood prospects in oversee countries for the unemployed youth . He said earlier also , when militancy was at its peak in 1990َs ,central government had come to the rescue of unemployed youth and recruited hundreds of educated unemployed youth in various central government departments and PSUs including AGَ s Office , various Insurance companies , and Indian railways , under a fast track recruitment drive. “This time also, Center should come to the rescue of unemployed youth and announce a big special employment package for them, Hakeem Yasen demanded .
PDF chairman said that inability of the Government to provide jobs to unemployed youth has made their future bleak , due to which they are falling easy prey to drug mafia. He said even the salaries and wages of the employees , daily wagers ,Anganwadi workers and ASHA’s is not being paid to them regularly and they have been forced to come on roads to seek for disbursement of their dues . He said that Government should sympathetically hear demands of the employees and workers to seek redressal of their grievances.
,“Not only working employees and unemployed youth but the common people also were facing untold hardships in the wake of skyrocketing prices of essential commodities in the markets ,non availability of power , drinking water and ration”, Hakeem maintained adding there that common people were facing tough times for their survival and sustenance.
