CUK’s DSW holds Mehfil-e-Mushaira

Ganderbal: The Department of Students Welfare (DSW), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with the varsity’s Departments of Urdu and Kashmiri, Thursday kick-started a two-day event on “Literature, Folk Tradition and Folk Art,” and organised a Mehfil-e-Mushaira at Tulmulla campus.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office CUK here, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean DSW and Head Department of Urdu, Dr. Irfan Aalam, eminent academicians and poets including Prof. Shafeeqa Parveen (presided over the Mushaira), Prof. Shad Ramzan, Mr. Bashir Dada, Prof.Shafaq Sopori, Mr. Gulab Safi (online), Dr. Nighat Farooq, Mr. Fayaz Taligami, Mr.Adil Ashraf, Mr. Bashir Charag, Ms. Nighat Nasreen, Dr. Tanveer Tahir, Ms.Shaista Mubraq, Mr. Ather Bashir, MrNisar Azam, Mr. Rashif Azami, Mr. Mubarak Lone, Mr. Masroor Muzaffar, Mr ShabirAhmad, Dr Ali Muhammad Dar, Mr Shamsuddin and Mr. Sagar Nazir were present on the occasion.
During the event, the poets and academicians presented their poetry both in Urdu and Kashmiri languages, and won accolades from the audience comprising faculty members, scholars and students.
“The event was organised in connection with the Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav-2023 to uphold the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat initiative and to celebrate the diversity in unity of Indian languages,” Prof. Shahid Rasool, said. He said such events encourage building of deeper connections in the hearts and minds of youth and promote multilingualism as envisaged in theNEP-2020.
Dean DSW and Head Department of Urdu, Dr. Irfan Aalam said the event was part of the several events to be organised by the Central University of Kashmir to celebrate the Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav-2023.
Asst Prof. Deptt of Urdu, Dr. Rashid Azeez and Asst Prof. Deptt ofKashmir, Dr. Samreen Geelani conducted the programme proceedings.
