Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Kungamdara headed by Incharge Police Post Kungamdara under the supervision of SDPO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Nowlari Pattan intercepted a vehicle (Honda City) bearing registration number DL7CF-6091 with two persons identified as Waseem Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Ahad and Mudasir Ahmad Mir S/o Nazir Ahmad both residents of Sher Colony Sopore on board, adding therein that during search, 7.1Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody besides which the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a police party of Police Post Wussan headed by Incharge Police Post Wussan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Sultanpora Wussan intercepted a person identified as Hilal Ahmad Hurrah S/o Mohd Subhan Hurrah R/o Krankshivan Colony Sopore and during search recovered 53 grams of Charas like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at police Station Pattan besides which investigation has been also initiated , Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
