Srinagar: J&K National Conference (NC) on Sunday organised a motorcycle rally in Srinagar to educate the people about the adverse effects of the drug menace in society.
The motorcycle rally led by NC spokesman Tanveer Sadiq was taken out from Bagh Ali Mardan Khan to Naseem Bagh near the mausoleum of party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in downtown Srinagar after passing through several areas.
The main motive of the rally was to bring awareness among the people about the adverse effects of using drugs and its consequences on society as a whole.
Talking to media persons, NC spokesperson Sadiq said that the party has recently constituted a committee “WADA” which has also presented a report about the drug menace in the Kashmir valley.
He said about 13 lakh people are presently affected by the drug menace in the Kashmir valley and 90 percent of them are using Heroin which could lad them to destruction.
He said the drugs have now reached almost every household and there is a need for every citizen to play a role to the society of the menace.
Sadiq said the authorities will do nothing and it is for the people to get on their feet and uproot the drug menace from society. UNI QAB SSP
