Pothole-ridden road hampers travel in Bandipora’s model village

B’Pora : Falling under the category of model village Garoora, the road leading to the famous book village Aragam in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is in a dilapidated condition, residents complained on saturday.
The residents alleged that it has been over several years that the administration has been making false claims for repairing the 04-km road stretch which is filled with deep potholes, but nothing has been done at ground level.
Disappointed with the official apathy, the locals said that the road leads to a famous book village Aragam from Goroora, which falls in the category of model villages is full of potholes but the administration has only made tall claims in the past and nothing has been done at ground level to improve the condition.
“Accidents take place due to deep potholes and it becomes difficult even to step out of our houses during rainfall, due to water accumulation,” locals said.
Mudasir, a local student, said that it is beyond his understanding why the dilapidated road is not being repaired yet despite several requests to the administration.
Irfan Ahmad, a sumo driver, said that he is short of words to describe the situation of the vehicles that are running on this road from Garoora to Gunddachina via Aragam.
“We are being deceived every year to say the condition of the road will be repaired but it is not happening yet which is causing the whole village to suffer,” Manzoor Ahmad another local said.
The residents of the village appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter in order to redress their grievances
