Police Commemoration Day observed across J&K

Srinagar: “National Police Day” also known as Police Commemoration Day was observed with full ceremonial tradition across Jammu and Kashmir. The main function was organized at the Armed Police Complex Zewan. The Director General J&K Police Dilbag Singh read out the names of brave hearts of the country.
In a statement issued from Police Media Centre J&K PHQ Srinagar, sacrifices of the martyrs, who laid down their lives in the service of the nation, were remembered and wreaths were laid at the martyr’s memorial. Families of the martyrs were also present on the occasion. Blood donation camp was held where a 200 police personnel donated the blood in memory of the fallen heroes..
Police Chief while speaking on the occasion appreciated the participation of senior officers of CAPFs, Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, officers from different agencies and different contingents of police and other forces in paying tributes to the police fallen heroes of the country. The DGP said that this day has it’s origin in the valour of CRPF men who while defending our borders in Ladakh area while fighting the enemies in 1959 gave supreme sacrifices of their lives and since then the day is being observed every year by all police forces of the country to remember the police martyrs.
The DGP said that in recent times Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a massive change and J&K is moving on the track of peace and development. “We are collectively working for permanent peace and tranquility in J&K” he added. Singh on this occasion paid rich tributes to this year’s fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country and its people. He then read out the names of Police brave hearts of the country who sacrificed their lives on the line of duty this year.
Talking to reporters the DGP said that commemoration day is being observed across the country to remember and pay tributes to the police fallen heroes of the country who made supreme sacrifices of their lives for the Nation and its people. On this day our resolve gets further strengthened to work for the country and its security, he added. With regard to the two separate firing incidents at borders, the DGP said that both the incidents are being investigated and details of both the incidents would be shared after the investigation is completed. He said that during over past three decades 1606 police personnel have sacrificed their lives while fighting Pak sponsored militancy. Paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Police and other forces, the DGP said that because of the sacrifices of these brave hearts militancy has been defeated in J&K. He said that militancy is taking its last breaths and added that it is our collective resolve to put a complete end to militancy in J&K.
Besides, the police chief said that time has gone when on the dictation of Pak and its agencies innocent people used to get targeted in militancy and added that now our people, businessmen, tourists are feeling safer and secure. With regard to the narco-militancy, the DGP said that in the last few years around 39 cases have been registered, investigation of which are being conducted in professional manner by NIA, SIU and SIA.
The DGP also said that recently J&K Police has achieved a major success in Ramban in which around 30 kilograms of cocaine like substance was seized adding that links of which are connected to Kupwara, Punjab and Uthrakhand. All the involved have been arrested and investigation is going on, he added. Anyone found involved in narco-trade/militancy would be dealt with strictly, he warned. He said that it is our resolve to fight Pak backed narco-militancy/trade with utmost power. He however, sought the cooperation of people in fighting the menace which he said is the conspiracy of Pakistan to harm youth and to generate funds for militant activities. He said some militant camps are still active in parts of Pakistan, many infiltration attempts were made this year of which around 90 percent of attempts were foiled on the border, he added. Majority of the infiltrators who managed to sneak here have been killed, he said.
He said that youth of J&K have understood the conspiracies of Pakistan and its agencies and have rejected the path of destruction. Only 10 misguided youth have joined militant groups this year as compared to 110 last year, he said. He appealed to the misguided youth to shun the violence and contribute for peace and development of the J&K. Meanwhile, the commemoration day was also observed at all Districts, units and wing headquarters across Jammu and Kashmir. The concerned senior police officers led the officers and jawans in paying homage to the fallen heroes of the country.

K Goyal, Spl DG CID J&K R.R Swain, Spl DGP Crime J&K A.K Choudhary, GOC 15 Corps Lt General Rajiv Ghai, ADGP CRPF J&K ADG CRPF J&K Nalin Prabhat, ADGsP S.J.M Gillani, M.K Sinha, Vijay Kumar, Alok Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Vikramjeet Singh, IGP (Hqrs/CIV) PHQ, B.S Tuti, DIsG Shahid Mehraj, Altaf Ahmad Khan, Abdul Qayoom, Javaid Iqbal Matoo, and a galaxy of senior officers of police, Army, CAPFs were present on this occasion.
