Glowing tribute paid to Sufi poet late Gh. Ahmad Dilbar, KMAWS holds condolence meet

Chrar-i-Shareef (Budgam) : Kashmir Markaz Adab-wa-Saqafat Chrar-i- Sharief held a condolence session comprising eminent poets ,writers and scholars of kashmir to pay tribute to great sufi poet Late Gh. Ahmad Dilbar . Those who participated in the condolence meet include Chairman Chirag foundation , Bashir Chirag , noted writers and poets Shahbaz Hakbari , G.N Adfar , Ali Ahsan , Abu Nayeem ( G Q Bedar) , Mir Ab Majid Makhddmi , Farooq Ahmad Wani of english daily Brighter Kashmir , Yaseen Madhosh ,Inayat Gul ,Mushtaq Mehram etc.
The speakers highlighted the contribution of Late Dilbar to kashmiri language and literature. Glowing tribute were paid to Dilbar sb and deepest condolences were expressed on his sad demise. Late Dilbar was a well-known Sufi saint and poet of Kashmir Valley, who left for heavenly abode on 8th October,2023. Ghulam Ahmed Dilbar’s real name was Ghulam Ahmad Matto and ‘Dilbar’ was his pen name. He was born in Chrar-i- Sharief in 1922 AD.
In his lifetime, Dilbar published his 16 poetry collections . Dilbar Sahib’s first poetry collection was published in 1956 AD in the name of ‘Kalam-e-Dilbar’ which was followed by Aashiq Mashooq, Shama-te-Paonpar, Rubayat-i-Dilbar, Naat Nabi, Miraj Nama, Sooz-e-Ishq, Manqbat and others.
Kashmir’s well-known critic and educationist Prof. Mohiuddin Hajni Sahib in one of his writings called Dilbar Sahib as a ‘Shayr-e-Dilbar’. In a similar show of respect for his great stature and intellectual depth of his poetry, renowned poet Late Ghulam Nabi Aariz called him Kastoor-e-Alamdar (The fragrance of Shiekh Noor-ud-Din Noorani). Haji Gh Ahmad Dilber has wrote innumerable poems in praise of Allah (swt) and our Prophet Mohammad (pbuh). In shrines across Kashmir, his naat and manqabat sharief ( poetry ) is recited with great affection ,faith and devotion . Bashir Ahmad Baba (President Fruit Traders Association) and son-in- Law of Dilbar presented vote of thanks.
