Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four suspects involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla and also seized four vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Ashfaq Alam assisted by SHO Police Station Tangmarg seized two vehicles (tippers) and arrested two drivers identified as Gulzar Ahmad Tantray S/o Bashir Ahmad & Parvaiz Ahmad Shah S/o Gh Nabi both R/o Gonipora involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Kulhama Tangmarg.
Police in its statement also said that in another similar action, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Ashfaq Alam assisted by SHO Police Station Kunzer seized two vehicles (tractors) and arrested two drivers identified as Ab Majeed Bhat S/o Gh Ahmad & Firdous Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Akbar both R/o Wussan Kunzer involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Wussan Kunzer.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Tangmarg and Kunzer and initiated further investigations into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
