2 drug peddlers arrested in B’gam, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Hatharan intercepted a Scooty bearing registration No PB10G-1225 driven by one Harjeet Singh S/o Swarn Singh R/o Mayapur Ludhaina A/P Bemina Srinagar and during his checking, 6 Kgs of poppy straw (Fukki) like substance concealed in a polythene bag was recovered from his possession, adding therein that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that that in a similar action, a police party of Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Gariend, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag who on seeing police party, fled from the spot and entered into a Jhugi in Brick Kiln 71P but the police party tactfully arrested him and during checking, about 10Kgs 300 grams of poppy straw like substance concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused was identified as Devender Paul Singh S/o Gurdyal Singh R/o Kalan Ludhiana Punjab A/P Brick Kilin 71P and during his search Jhugi, Alcohol like substance was recovered which he had stored in eight plastic containers and one drum hidden beneath the bricks, adding therein that the accused has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Budgam besides which the investigation has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
