Gang of burglars busted in Kulgam, 7 arrested; stolen property worth lacs also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has busted a gang of burglars by arresting seven accused persons involved in many burglary cases and also recovered stolen property worth lacs from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on receiving several complaints regarding burglary in the areas of Police Station Kulgam, the cases vide FIR Nos. 131/2023 and 165/2023 under relevant sections of law were registered following which the investigation was initiated.
Police in its statement further said that accordingly, a special team headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of SP Hqrs Kulgam Ghulam Muhammad Bhat was constituted to investigate the incidents of burglary and during the course of investigation, one suspect identified as Ayan Shameem S/o Mohd Shameem Halwai R/o Bijnoor UP A/P Rangrezpora, Kulgam was called for questioning and during questioning, he disclosed that he along with other six persons identified as Shahid Sheikh S/o Mohd Jasim Sheikh R/o Delhi A/P Srinagar, Farman Ahmad S/o Hanif Ansari R/o Bijnoor UP, Mohd Amir S/o Mohd Yameen R/o UP, Bhar Alam S/o Mani Ahmad R/o UP, Mudasir Habib S/o Habibullah Mir R/o Shalipora Sopore and a juvenile have committed the crime.
Stating that all the said accused were brought to Police Station Kulgam where they confessed that they are involved in multiple burglaries following which they were subsequently arrested, Police in its statement further said that the investigating team was also able to recover stolen property worth lacs on their disclosure, adding therein that further investigation into the matter is in progress as more arrests and recoveries are expected.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that the people of the area have lauded it’s effort for cracking/solving the case.
