8 suspected arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in B’gam, 8 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested eight suspects for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam and also seized 8 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Post Humhama during naka/patrolling at Humhama near Salsabeel School Humhama seized eight tippers bearing registration numbers JK19-0858, JK03B-3620, JKO1K-2374, JK17-2118, JK02AC-7822, JK04C-1580, JK03B-0714 and JK01N-8098 for being used in illegal transportation of minerals. Stating that the drivers of the said vehicles identified as Aashiq Hussain Rather R/o Sofipora Budgam, Javaid Hussain Mir R/o Paller Budgam, Irshad Hussain Mir R/o Paller Budgam, Ishfaq Ahmad Paul R/o Sheikhpora Budgam, Ab Rahman Bhat R/o Sheikhpora Budgam, Irfan Ahmed Beigh R/o Kadipora Budgam, Aaqib Hussain Mir R/o Paller Budgam and Mohd Iqbal Teli R/o Palibagh Budgam were also arrested on the spot, Police in it’s statement further said that police also registered the case
vide FIR No. 274/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Budgam and took up the investigation.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
