Srinagar: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Srinagar City on Thursday said E-Court challans against 7366 vehicles are pending and stern action will be taken against the violators who fail to appear before the court before August 9 for disposal of challans.
SSP Traffic Muzaffar Shah while addressing a presser in Srinagar’s traffic office said they have been directed by a Srinagar Court to settle the challans.
“As we receive the list, we analyse it and find these challans are against 7366 vehicles. Likewise many of these vehicles have multiple challans. In this regard, we have published the order with a request to people that if they see their vehicle in the list but fail to appear in front of the court before August 9 for disposal of their pending e-challan, they will face legal action,” he said.
“Your vehicle registration may be cancelled or your vehicle may be impounded if you failed to submit the challan within nine-days. The list is composed of those vehicles who have five or more than five challans in their name.” he added.
Replying to a query on Smart city and traffic management in Srinagar, he said that the work is going on at multiple places in Srinagar and they have always tried to manage the traffic well to the best of their capacity and capability.
“In today’s time, the work is going on at several places in Srinagar and due to which we have installed temporary diversions, it is a temporary phase and once the work on smart city will be accomplished, traffic will again ply normally. Till then I would like to request the people to cooperate with the department, have patience and everything will be ok,” Shah added.
Earlier, a public notice issued by the Traffic Police Srinagar city said that they have received an order issued by the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Srinagar annexed with a list of 7366 vehicles. It showed pending E-Court Challans against vehicles and directed the owners of the vehicles to clear it before August 9
