In the picturesque valley of Kashmir, where nature’s beauty knows no bounds, an alarming concern has taken root – polythene pollution. Despite well-intentioned efforts by the concerned authorities to combat this environmental menace, the ground reality paints a disheartening picture. The anti-polythene drives in Kashmir have faltered, leaving the situation worsen with each passing day. The devastating consequences of polythene pollution cannot be overstated. These non-biodegradable bags clog our water bodies, choke our soil, and threaten the delicate balance of our ecosystems. The law was enacted with the intention to curtail this menace, but it seems that it has fallen short of its objectives. The concerned department, responsible for enforcing the law, has failed to effectively address the issue. Despite their mandate, polythene bags are still seen being carried with impunity. The situation is exacerbated by the unabated production of these bags in factories, where profit takes precedence over environmental responsibility. While awareness campaigns have been launched to educate the public about the detrimental effects of polythene pollution, the message seems to have fallen on deaf ears. People continue to use polythene bags without hesitation, unaware of the long-term consequences of their actions or indifferent to the urgency of the matter. It is disheartening to witness such a disregard for the well-being of our environment, especially in a region known for its pristine natural beauty. The very essence of Kashmir is being eroded by this growing problem, and urgent action is required to reverse the tide. The authorities must address this issue with renewed determination. Merely passing laws and organizing sporadic drives is not enough. A comprehensive approach is needed, involving stricter enforcement, effective monitoring, and stringent penalties for offenders.
The battle against polythene pollution in Kashmir is far from over, but it is a battle we cannot afford to lose. Let us unite as a community, demanding stricter regulations, heightened awareness, and a genuine commitment to change. The time for action is now, for the sake of our beloved valley and the generations to come.

Additionally, a collaborative effort is required from all stakeholders, including manufacturers, retailers, and the public at large. Factories producing polythene bags must be held accountable for their contribution to the problem and encouraged to explore eco-friendly alternatives. The public must be made aware of the individual responsibility they bear and the choices they make in their daily lives. Above all, we need a collective change in mindset. Our love for the natural wonders of Kashmir must translate into a commitment to protect and preserve them. Environmental consciousness should become an inherent part of our culture and identity. The battle against polythene pollution in Kashmir is far from over, but it is a battle we cannot afford to lose. Let us unite as a community, demanding stricter regulations, heightened awareness, and a genuine commitment to change. The time for action is now, for the sake of our beloved valley and the generations to come.
